
Robin D’Amato
Connecticut born, Robin D’Amato moved to New York City to attend New York University, fell in love with the City, and never left. She has worked in the publishing industry as a Macintosh pre-press specialist since 1984. She also spent several decades pursuing dance and choreography. Her first novel, Somebody’s Watching You, won a 2021 second-quarter Firebird Book Award for fiction, and her second novel, Don’t Poke the Bear, was a 2023 Page Turner Awards finalist. Her current novel, Sugar Free, has recognition from four book awards: a November 2024 International Impact Book Award, third place in the 2024 International Firebird Book Awards, 2024 National Indie Excellence Award, and a Distinguished Favorite in the 2025 NYC Big Book Awards, all in Contemporary or Literary Fiction categories. She currently lives in Manhattan’s East Village with her 3,000-LP music room and her three cats.
